Empowered Essay Workshop
A four-day virtual college essay coaching event
August 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th from 5:00-6:30 pm EST
REGISTRATION CLOSED
DAY 1
Review the purpose of the personal statement and learn what colleges want to see.
Begin the brainstorming process through a series of guided exercises.
Homework:
Create mini-outlines for 2-3 potential essay topics.

DAY 2
Learn what makes a compelling topic.
Select essay topic and determine the best way to structure your essay.
Create essay outline.
Homework:
Write the first draft (some students will have the opportunity to have their draft reviewed live during the Day 3 session).

DAY 3
Discover how to take the essay draft to the next level and prepare it for submission.
Learn how to deepen insights and engage the admissions committee by strengthening the introduction and conclusion.
Final personal statement Q&A session.

DAY 4
Strategies for crafting the perfect University of Michigan supplemental essays.
University of Michigan Q&A session (no topic is off-limits).

Meet your presenters
Ashleigh Taylor is the founder of Empowered 4 College, a college application strategist, and former senior admissions officer for the University of Michigan. College essay coach, Erin Hubbman is a career journalist and a scholars coach and matchlighter counselor for the popular College Essay Guy. Both Ashleigh and Erin are certified partners of the Wow Writing Program.
